Keybridge is a boutique economics and public policy consulting firm based in Washington, DC. Our mission is to generate, curate, and apply analytical insights that help organizations create a more prosperous, resilient, and healthy nation. Since 2001, we have used our expertise in applied economics, public policy, and data analytics to help our clients anticipate and respond to economic trends and advance sound, data-driven public policies. Our clients include Fortune 500 corporations, leading trade associations, federal government agencies, non-profits, and other organizations that operate at the intersection of economics and public policy.

Keybridge is organized into three practice areas: Macroeconomics, Public Policy, and Social Responsibility & Accountability. While all three areas provide clients with a similar suite of economic and policy research, analysis, and strategic advisory services, the typical client portfolio and project profile varies across teams.

DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with deep intellectual curiosity and a passion for macroeconomics and public policy to join our team. This is a strong mid-level role at a growing firm where you will be asked to roll up your sleeves and help shape the future of the Macroeconomics Practice and of the overall firm.

As a Senior Analyst, you will work with other members of the Macroeconomics Practice to manage and deliver analytical and consulting services to a variety of clients, including private companies, trade associations, non-profit organizations, and government entities. You will be expected to exercise problem-solving skills, apply economic principles and analytical approaches, and develop creative solutions to help our clients address real-world issues. We have found that successful candidates have a demonstrated interest in how research speaks to public policy issues, are able to work simultaneously and independently across multiple subject-matter areas and can quickly learn new topics or methods as needed. Successful candidates also have strong communication skills.

Current areas of focus for our Macroeconomic Practice clients include:

  • Short-, medium-, and long-term outlook for the U.S. economy, including recession risks, inflation, and trends in employment, consumer spending, investment spending, and financial stress.
  • Developments in U.S. economic policy, including fiscal, monetary, and trade policy, as well as state and regional economic developments.
  • Industry and sector-specific issues, including equipment investment and finance, consumer finance, and electronic payments.
  • International economic developments (G20, European Union, Asian, and Latin American economies), developments in global energy markets, currency markets, etc.
  • Geopolitical risks, including Russia-Ukraine and its impact on the global economy and balance of power, the future of U.S.-China relations, global financial risks, emerging-market debt issues, the rise of global populism, post-Brexit implications, and other geopolitical developments that impact, directly or indirectly, U.S. consumers and businesses.

This position will provide you with opportunities to develop expertise in a variety of economic and policy topics, as well as apply new skills in an up-tempo work environment. You will work alongside a creative, interdisciplinary team of economists and policy professionals and engaged clients, breaking new ground in terms of the tactics, tools, and insights our clients use to carry out their mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Thought Leadership

  • Maintain a solid and expanding knowledge base around macroeconomic developments and policy issues, with an emphasis on topics pertinent to business investment, consumer financial health, and electronic payments industry.
  • Actively contribute to team and client brainstorming sessions to identify clients’ analytical and strategic needs and ways to address them.
  • Assist practice area leads in engaging with clients in discussions about economic and policy issues that are relevant to their interests.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Conduct economic, data, and public policy analysis. Tasks include (but are not limited to) identifying data requirements, designing analytical approaches, and applying a creative mix of qualitative and quantitative methods to address client needs.
  • Translate complex analytical results into clear and compelling insights that are relevant to client interests and needs.
  • Develop and oversee the development of presentations and written reports for technical and non-technical audiences, utilizing charts, dashboards, infographics, and other forms of data visualization to communicate clearly, concisely, and comprehensively.

Management

  • Assist with formulating and executing project workplans with realistic timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.
  • Assist practice area leads with executing project work plans, including helping to ensure deadlines and objectives are met within an established budget constraint, preparing progress reports, and delivering on commitments.
  • Develop professional relationships with Keybridge clients and assist with client management responsibilities.
  • Provide oversight and mentoring to junior staff, including delegating tasks, providing feedback, and instructing on analytical frameworks and methods.

You also may be assigned other duties as needs arise, such as being asked to contribute to internally-facing strategic initiatives or assisting with recruiting, hiring, and/or onboarding efforts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least three years of work experience in an economic research, government, public policy or consulting field; or an advanced degree in economics, public policy, international relations, business, or related field with at least one year of work experience.
  • Demonstrated passion for macroeconomic trends and developments; naturally curious personality with a drive to understand how economic and political forces interact, and a demonstrated ability to quickly learn new topics or methods as needed.
  • Collegial “team-first” attitude, positive outlook, and a friendly disposition.
  • Demonstrated quantitative skills, including knowledge and application of economic principles and concepts, statistics, data analytics, and econometrics.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and a meticulous attention to detail, with a proven track record of producing high-quality, client-ready work.
  • Ability to operate collaboratively within a team environment while simultaneously moving work forward independently.
  • Proven capacity to multitask in a professional service environment, including the ability to quickly adjust team and client priorities in response to changing circumstances.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree and/or work experience with a focus on macroeconomic developments and implications for monetary policy, private industries, and U.S. consumers. Demonstrated interest in topics related to the financial sector, particularly electronic payments, is a plus.

  • Experience with communicating effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience developing and implementing formal surveys, including data collection and analysis.
  • Client management experience, including communicating directly with clients through various channels (e.g., emails, video calls, in-person meetings, and formal presentations).

If you have a passion for creative problem solving and are interested in working on macroeconomic issues in a collaborative environment, we want to hear from you. We welcome applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, and we recognize that skills and competencies can show up in different ways and can be based on life experience. Even if you meet many of the qualifications listed above, but not all of them, we still encourage you to apply.
