Job Description



The Automotive High Performance Compute (HPC) team is seeking a Sr. Director of systems architecture & product management to manage the system engineering functions for automotive SOC product line of all our current and next generation HPC products, with a critical role to accelerate the development of next generation of AI, Machine Learning (ML) and automotive networking solutions in the field of ADAS/Autonomous Driving and Software-Defined-Vehicle (SDV). The position is an excellent opportunity to take a senior executive leadership role and collaborate with various global teams including SOC design, software development and product marketing to expand automotive SoC solutions in the fast-growing world of automotive embedded processing, digital cockpit, and domain fusion ECUs. This high-impact role will enable a successful candidate to deliver value by defining and driving with his team the deployment of robust reference automotive systems (hardware and software), including multi-party and in-house software stacks applications and contribute to transforming the future of mobility.

Principle Accountabilities

The person will have a high visible role in fueling the growth of Renesas fast-growing line of SoC and software products for automotive applications. Success requires a clear understanding of overall embedded automotive ECUs, and broad knowledge of automotive OSs, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and neural networks, computer vision, camera, radar and Lidar sensors as well as graphics and display in an automotive environment.

The systems architecture engineering director’s responsibilities include working closely with senior leaders, key customers (Tier1 and OEMs) as well as industry partners to secure design-ins and revenue, making sure while working with the hardware and software development teams that the overall Renesas’s automotive system solutions stay ahead of market requirements and meets customer needs and KPIs.

The successful candidate must have strong self-motivation and sense of initiative, excellent interpersonal skills, and be able to work in a truly global environment across various functional organizations such as Applications Engineering, Software development, Design Engineering, Product Marketing, and Sales. He must contribute actively to the transformational changes that bring the best out of a multicultural workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of systems architects and automotive application experts to support customers to drive aggressive growth for design-ins and revenue – for ADAS, Cockpit & Networking markets
  • Own and drive the silicon roadmap
  • Generate winning reference software stacks & reference applications needed to establish clear dominance through best-in-class overall whole product for automotive market
  • Own the requirements and system level benchmarking and validation – pre-silicon and post silicon
  • Mentor direct reports, giving appropriate guidance and support, and reviewing technical and behavioral performance regularly.
  • Delegate project tasks appropriately, ensuring the entire team follows procedures.
  • Support automotive product leadership and interact with other group managers to ensure successful deployment of strategic initiatives.
  • Interact with other group managers to ensure wider HPC team cohesion to rectify issues that arise.
  • Initiate and coordinate the development of software tooling dedicated to ADAS domain fusion and Software-Defined-Vehicle development to create automotive winning combo’s (including but not limited to cloud-based tools supporting automotive networking, OTA, data aggregation, AI or HMI).
  • Work closely with the marketing, applications, and field sales/FAE teams of other Renesas Electronics’ business units to successfully define innovative products and work with a cross-functional team to coordinate product promotion and demand creation within specific regions.
  • Providing support to field teams as needed to generate opportunities and facilitate design-ins.
  • Stay abreast of technology trends in the automotive systems space; develop recommendations and competitive feature set to keep the hardware and software product at the cutting edge and best-in-class through continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years industry experience managing and driving application solutions development and engineering teams in automotive space.
  • Strong, hands-on knowledge of Automotive technologies, trends, and embedded systems.
  • Travel (~25%) required regionally and worldwide to engage with the sales force and with customers to drive engagement, understand system level KPIs and deliver continuous improvement.
  • Has a hands-on mentality to drive different topics pro-actively.
  • Strong analytical skills and have a winning mentality.
  • Strives for continual improvement in all aspects of work including policies and methodology.
  • Ability to organize, delegate, budget and plan team to meet departmental objectives.
  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to foster a commercial, collaborative and learning environment.
  • Mentor direct reports and review technical and individual performance regularly.
  • Collaborating with Senior leadership to develop team objectives in accordance with wider company strategy.
  • Ability to work with Senior Management to develop and work to budget.
  • Cross cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Results-oriented and able to deliver on-time under tight schedule pressure.
  • Ability to work both independently and part of a team.
  • Flexible to undertake occasional international travel at short notice.
  • Excellent command of verbal and written English.

Additional Information



The expected annual pay range for this position is $192,500 - $289,000. This position is also eligible for bonus pay. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience, and skillset of the candidate.
