Job Description - Senior Director of Marketing

The Senior Director of Marketing will lead the development and implementation of strategic marketing and communications initiatives to raise awareness and drive engagement for both neighbors needing assistance and donors. This position is responsible for ensuring the food bank represents itself in a professional, compassionate and respectful manner both internally and externally. This position manages all public advertising as well as the website, social media channels and YouTube.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Brand Management: Work with outside marketing agency and senior leadership to develop contemporary brand assets such as logos, color schemes, typography and imagery as well as brand voice and messaging. Work with internal departments to ensure appropriate implementation of brand assets in materials such as flyers, newsletters, videos, etc.

Building Signage and Internal Design: Lead all exterior and interior building signage initiatives, ensure all spaces adhere to brand guidelines and tell the story of the food bank and our neighbors in a respectful, professional and compelling manner.

Content Development: Create and/or oversee the creation of compelling content. Produce or review articles, videos, social media posts, website and YouTube content. Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to gather stories, photographs and video. Work with outside experts as needed to ensure professional execution and development of materials.

Advertising: Manage relationship with outside marketing agency for fundraising, special event and brand awareness initiatives. When applicable, work with Director of Public Relations and local media on campaigns managed internally.

Website Management: Create and manage website content, including text, images and videos. Work with outside agency managing website maintenance, troubleshooting, optimization, compliance and best practices. Work with internal staff to make minor edits and updates. Work with departments using links that drive the user off the website (HR, Volunteer Services, Agency Services) to ensure consistency in brand and messaging. Regularly assess website to review the experience of the user (neighbors, donors and partner agencies), ensuring it’s visually appealing, easy to navigate and error-free. Produce monthly website analytics report.

Social Media: Oversee all food bank social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, X, and Instagram). Ensure accuracy and optimization of food bank profiles on social media. Work with staff to create compelling content, using text, photos, videos, hashtags, tags, links, etc. Ensure a mix of stories representing neighbors and volunteers as well as monetary donors as required by grants and partnerships. Develop strategies to grow social media following and increase engagement. Ensure that comments, messages and mentions are replied to in a timely and professional manner. Utilize advertising (boosting posts) as appropriate. Monitor social media of similar organizations, partner agencies as well as the Skills Center. Produce monthly social media reports to include key metrics such as engagement, reach, and impressions.

YouTube: Manage YouTube channel, ensuring the channel is compelling and organized appropriately. Work with internal staff to review playlists, delete outdated videos, review video titles, descriptions, tags and thumbnails. Coordinate the production of high-quality video content including interviews, tutorials, and promotional videos that represent food bank activities and tells the stories of food bank constituents and programs.

Internal Communications: Oversee employee newsletter, “In the Know”, ensuring quality content, department representation and engaging content. Work with Human Resources department as needed for internal communications and projects.

Budget Management: Create and manage marketing and advertising budget. Monitor expenses and report monthly on budget performance.


QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• 10+ years of experience in marketing and management, with a proven track record of success in developing and implementing marketing strategies.
• Exemplary communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to tailor messages to various diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically, prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong leadership and management skills.
• Strong background in marketing, excellent communication skills, and a passion for addressing hunger issues.
