Job Description Summary

The Steam Turbine Customer Instructor Instructor will be responsible for design, development, and delivery of mechanical maintenance and operation trainings for assigned Steam turbines, including preparation of classroom / lab and simulations / support equipment. The PS Product Training Delivery Team is chartered with delivery of state-of-the-art employee technical training courses providing safe, high quality, capable field service representatives for the PS business to apply across the energy cycle.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • All field services training related activities for both employees and customers, including delivering product, system and process trainings
    and providing ongoing support to ensure the standard and quality of field service execution
  • Responsible for delivery of both entry level and advanced technical training courses on GE Steam turbines mechanical and operation equipment for customer training candidates
  • Interface with the Training Design & Development, GT Design and Product Engineering, New Product Introduction (NPI), Research & development Engineering group (R&D) teams to deliver current, cutting edge technology training to meet fulfillment needs
  • Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
  • Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
  • Focus on safe, high Quality training with the ultimate deliverable being a high quality, capable, field PS Field Representative to apply to customer maintenance and/or installation needs

Required Qualifications

  • Significant professional experience as a Steam Turbine Specialist with GE or equivalent experience
  • Significant manufacturing or process, or hands on field experience with Steam Turbine equipment installation, operation, and maintenance
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestic and/or globally up to 50% of the time
  • This role requires global travel to customer sites to deliver training. When not assigned to a customer site, candidate will be required to be at Houston Learning Center or Birr Learning Center

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
  • Recent maintenance and operation experience on Steam Turbines and Auxiliary equipment in our Combine Cycle Power Plant
  • Subject matter expert level Steam Turbine product knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a matrix and global environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholders and be a team player
  • Flexible and willing to learn and teach new technologies
