VP of Data Science

As the Vice President of Data Science, your mission will be pivotal in fostering a culture centered around data-driven decision-making and spearheading strategic advancements. You'll harness an extensive dataset, gleaned through a robust data pipeline capturing millions of events daily from a broad user base. Leading a dynamic team adept in machine learning, predictive analytics, and engineering, your collaborative efforts with product, marketing, operations, and analytics departments will catalyze growth and enhance efficiencies. Your role demands a blend of innovative project leadership, effective communication for cross-team collaborations, and technical prowess to bring sophisticated projects from their conceptual stages to full production. Key Responsibilities: Champion data best practices and instill a data-driven ethos across the organization.
Serve as a technical beacon and mentor for the data science team, instilling top-notch engineering practices including coding standards, automated testing, CI/CD, and scalability.
Collaborate with the leadership team to define a long-term vision and data science roadmap, driving the development and application of data science across the company.
Innovate and manage machine learning projects from inception through to continuous enhancement.
Employ your creativity and analytical prowess to tackle intriguing and challenging problems daily.
Influence the enhancement of platform capabilities through automated algorithms to achieve business objectives.
Act as a liaison with stakeholders such as Executive, Product, Data, and DevOps teams to address data-related technical challenges and support data infrastructure needs.
Oversee the design and maintenance of an optimal data pipeline architecture.
Ensure the infrastructure for efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading is in place, utilizing SQL and AWS big data technologies.
Maintain data privacy and security standards.
Collaborate with data and analytics experts to enhance the functionality of data systems.
Utilize a technology stack that includes Python, Airflow, and AWS. What We're Looking For: Over 10 years of experience in data science and machine learning.
At least 5 years in a leadership role managing data scientists and/or data engineers.
A track record of merging traditional methods with cutting-edge research to craft innovative data-driven products.
Advanced proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases, along with familiarity with various database systems.
Expertise in model deployment, scaling, and deep learning networks.
Demonstrated ability in building and optimizing big data pipelines, architectures, and datasets.
Skilled in conducting root cause analysis on data and processes to unearth insights and identify improvement opportunities.
Strong analytical capabilities with unstructured data sets and experience in data transformation, structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.
A history of extracting significant value from large, disconnected datasets.
Knowledgeable in message queuing, stream processing, and scalable big data stores.
Proven project management and organizational skills.
Experience in a dynamic environment, supporting and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.
An MS degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
