Job Description - 1st Shift Junior Pattern Maker (Dept. 500)

Milwaukee Valve Company is looking for a 1st Shift Junior Pattern Maker to join our Prairie Du Sac, WI team in Department 500. This position starts at an hourly rate of $26.36.


* This position is eligible for a $1,000 sign-on bonus. The first half ($500) is payable after successful completion of the orientation period and the second half ($500) is payable after one year of employment. *


The regularly scheduled hours for this position are 5:30AM - 2:00PM, Monday through Friday with overtime eventually becoming a possibility or even required. When working overtime, the shift is adjusted by 1-2 hours at either the beginning or end of the regularly scheduled shift.

Summary The Junior Pattern Maker function is primarily to get the Fischer production schedule ready and to assist with the Kloster Production schedule when needed. When not fulfilling these 2 functions, the Junior Pattern Maker will be working on miscellaneous work orders or repairs.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities to which competency will be measured include the following.



  • Operation of various handheld tools.

  • Operation of various wood and metal working machines.

  • Ability to read pattern cards.

  • Use of micrometers, calipers and other measuring devices.

  • Maintain cleanliness in a prescribed manner.

  • Work is subject to final inspection.



Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED).


Language Skills - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Understanding of angles in basic geometry.


Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

Stand or walk 100% of the shift. Frequent bending, squatting, lifting, carrying up to 40 pounds unassisted. Need to use a step ladder.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
