Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee distribution, collection, and storage of scholar curriculum book sets/printouts, mentor texts, and novels
  • Lead and oversee ELA and Social Studies instructional goal-setting and long-term planning, including updating curriculum scope and sequence.
  • Directly manage and coach ELA and Social Studies teachers
  • Coach teachers to develop clear and consistent instructional classroom expectations, routines and methods
  • Observe and provide targeted and actionable instructional feedback to teachers using the Danielson Framework
  • Support social studies teachers in using curriculum resources to meet learning goals.
  • Support ELA teachers by using curriculum resources such as My Perspectives, My View, and Into Reading to meet learning goals.
  • Manage and facilitate operations balanced literacy and best practices for writing instruction
  • Implement campus wide DDI practices and analyze data from DMAC and Cambium with teachers and leadership regularly to maximize student performance and growth.
  • Ensure that every teacher shows achievement gains to ensure that scholars meet ambitious performance goals.
  • Assist with the implementation of instructional strategies for scholars needing accommodations in SPED, RTI, EL or advanced learning programs in GenEd and SpEd classrooms
  • Collaborate and coordinate with Dean of Culture, Dean of STEM, and Director of Special Education in planning and executing campus-wide intervention best practices.
  • Plan staff professional development related to literacy, social studies, and academic achievement strategies throughout the school year.
  • Due to the nature of this role, the candidate must be flexible and prepared to take on additional responsibilities as needs arise.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of three years of teaching experience - Social Studies / Humanities or ELA focused
  • Previous success working with second language learners and scholars from diverse backgrounds

Additional Considerations:

  • Masters in Curriculum Design or Pedagogy
  • Experience coaching or knowledge of Danielson Framework and Get Better Faster Framework
  • Texas ESL certification preferred
  • Current Texas credential preferred in the subject area applying for (or information indicating your eligibility to receive one).
  • Spanish fluency is desired but not required

  • Be willing to do “whatever it takes” to ensure all scholars learn
  • Hold all scholars to the highest expectations to ensure college readiness
  • Ability to use data to inform instructional practices
  • Excellent classroom management and teaching skills
  • Experience in collaboratively developing weekly lesson plans, scope & sequences, unit exams, weekly quizzes, quarterly exams.
