2025-26 Band/Music Teacher

Frontier School of Excellence is looking for a Band/Music teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. Starting salary is $58,750; commensurate with experience and education.

Job Summary:

The Band/Music Teacher is responsible for instructing students in music theory, instrumental technique, and ensemble performance. This role involves teaching classes, organizing concerts, partnering with community stakeholders, and fostering students’ musical growth through engaging instruction and extracurricular opportunities.

Qualifications:

• Possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  


• Possess a valid Missouri teacher certificate in Music.
  


• Strong proficiency in at least one instrument, and ability to teach multiple instruments. 


• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.


• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.


• Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.


• Utilize various instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.


• Assess the students' progress regularly and provide progress reports as required.


• Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect the students, equipment, materials, and facilities.


• Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.


• Comply with all district policies, rules, and regulations.


• Develop classroom rules and maintain order in a fair and just manner.


• Be available to the students and parents for education-related purposes.


• Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s) and cooperatively with department heads.


• Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans aligned to state, school, and national music standards.


• Teach music theory, instrument technique, and ensemble rehearsal to students across various grade levels.


• Direct band and/or music ensembles for school concerts, performances, and events.


• Organize and oversee extracurricular music activities such as marching band, jazz band, pep band, or solo/ensemble contests.


• Provide individual or group instruction to help students prepare for performances and assessments.


• Maintain and manage inventory of instruments, sheet music, and other supplies.


• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity and respect.


• Assess student progress and provide timely feedback; maintain accurate records of student grades and participation.


• Maintain a professional relationship and collaborate with school staff, parents, and community members to support student success and program development.


• Attend staff meetings, committees, professional development sessions, and parent conferences as required.


• Perform other duties as assigned.
