Job Description - 2026 Football Technology Representative

The Football Technology Representative (FTR) is a game day role supporting NFL Football operations at the stadium level. Working as a two-person team, FTRs are responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and storing the League’s technology systems each home game day. One FTR is stationed on the sidelines managing field-level equipment, while the other works upstairs in the technology booths — including the Instant Replay Booth, Coaches’ Booths, and Injury Video Review Booth.

FTRs are representatives of the NFL and are expected to conduct themselves with professionalism at all times. This role demands technical aptitude, sound judgment under pressure, and a commitment to delivering reliable, game-ready systems for every kickoff.

Responsibilities

  • Arrive at the stadium a minimum of four (4) hours prior to kickoff to set up and verify all assigned technology systems, ensuring full operational readiness before game time.

  • Deploy technology carts from storage, establish power and fiber connections, and confirm all hardware and software is functioning as expected.

  • Verify equipment condition, placement, and configuration in accordance with League standards; clean or replace equipment as necessary.

  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues as they arise during the game, including performing fiber optic cleaning to restore signal levels, cable re-termination, and hardware swaps.

  • Maintain proper cable management throughout the game day using professional techniques, including the over-under coiling method.

  • Protect all equipment from weather and environmental hazards throughout the event.

  • Collaborate effectively with League game day assistants, broadcast partners, and team staff as needed.

  • Communicate and escalate issues promptly through proper League channels; maintain real-time updates with the Football Technology team.

  • After the game, troubleshoot any remaining open items, properly disconnect and store all equipment, and ensure the venue is left in good order.

  • Complete a post-game tech report within 24 hours, documenting equipment condition, any issues encountered, solutions implemented, and any replacement equipment or cabling needed.

  • Verify software versions and apply updates as directed by the League.

  • On occasion, travel to support games at alternative stadiums as requested.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of optical fiber infrastructure, including connector types, cleaning procedures, and light level diagnostics.

  • Familiarity with IP-based data networks, managed switches, and Ethernet connectivity.

  • Understanding of broadcast video infrastructure and signal flow concepts.

  • Experience with computer systems and the ability to navigate device settings and perform basic software checks.

  • Ability to quickly assess technical situations and implement effective solutions in a live, fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to document and report issues clearly and professionally.

  • Professional demeanor and the ability to represent the NFL brand positively in interactions with team staff, League officials, and broadcast partners.

  • Punctual, reliable, and committed to fulfilling all game day obligations.

  • Ability to work outdoors and on your feet for extended periods and to handle equipment in various weather conditions.

Training

Selected candidates will receive comprehensive hands-on training in July prior to the start of the season. Training will cover all game day procedures, system operation, troubleshooting protocols, fiber and cabling techniques, and League reporting requirements. Prior NFL experience is not required — candidates with a strong technical foundation and professional approach are encouraged to apply.
