211 Child Development Screening Program Assistant

The United Way of Connecticut's 211 Child Development team serves as a coordinated gateway to services for children with developmental or behavioral needs. The 211 Child Development Screening Program Assistant works as part of the specialized 211 Child Development (211 CD) team, helping Connecticut parents and providers seeking to assist their clients in understanding the services available through the Birth to Three Early Intervention System, Early Childhood Special Education, Help Me Grow, and Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs programs.

What you will do:

• Provides intake and care coordination functions related to developmental screening through ASQ Online or Sparkler.
• Manages ASQ Online system and Sparkler dashboard, including assigning screenings, scoring screening results, ensuring follow-up based on results, and provides referrals to services as needed.
• As necessary, assists families in accessing the Ages and Stages Questionnaires through paper, online, or the Sparkler app. Provides care coordination to families, researches appropriate resources, provides education and information on development, behavior management, and services, and provides advocacy and follow-up. 
• Assists with training staff on child development, developmental screening, and use of the Sparkler ASQ mobile app/provider dashboard. 
• Participates in 211 Child Development unit staff meetings, case discussions, and joint meetings with funders.
• Attends workshops/conferences and agency initiatives to strengthen skills related to job function and professional development.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

When and where you will work:

 This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm / 8:30am - 5:00pm. 

 This position requires regular in-office presence, with opportunities to work from home periodically.

The Pay

• $18.50-$19.50 per hour!
• Additional $0.75 per worked hour for certified Spanish- or Portuguese-speaking staff ($1.50 per hour worked for both languages) after 90 days on the job

Who you are

• You have a Bachelor’s degree in special education, early child development, or a related health and human services field, plus a minimum of one year’s experience working with children and their families (preferred); OR an Associate’s degree in early child development or a related health and human services field and three years of experience working with children and families; OR a high school diploma and five years of experience working with children and families (required). 
• You have knowledge and experience using the Ages and Stages Questionnaires.
• You have knowledge of typical and atypical child development, special needs conditions, and an understanding of Connecticut’s service delivery systems for children and their families. 
• Experience with, and demonstrated knowledge of, Birth to Three and/or special education systems. 
• Bilingual, English/Spanish, preferred.
