GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under the general direction of the Electrical Supervisor, the Electrician I assists with installation, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment and medium to high-voltage power distribution systems. The position involves checking electrical components for safety compliance, diagnosing issues with testing equipment, repairing or replacing faulty parts, assisting with the installation and upgrades of electrical systems, integrating new equipment, and ensuring adherence to electrical safety regulations and standards.

This position requires flexibility to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays, to meet the demands of our 24/7 operations.

Requires availability for emergency call-in.

COMPENSATION\: $22.82 - $29.09 based on experience
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conducts regular inspections, tests, and maintenance procedures to identify potential electrical system failures or malfunctions.
  • Checks electrical components, circuits, and control systems to ensure compliance with safety and performance standards.
  • Diagnoses electrical problems using various testing equipment and techniques to determine appropriate repair or replacement actions.
  • Repairs or replaces faulty components, wiring, or connections to restore functionality to electrical systems.
  • Assists in the installation, upgrade, and modification of electrical systems and equipment as required.
  • Installs new electrical circuits and upgrade existing systems to meet current codes and regulations.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while performing tasks to ensure a safe working environment, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and reporting potential hazards.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required as an essential function of the position.

REQUIRED FOR ALL HCAA JOBS

  • In the event of an emergency or disaster that impacts the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority (HCAA), an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee’s department or the HCAA Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Such assignments may be before, during, or after the emergency/disaster.
  • Complies with all HCAA Policies, Procedures, and Standards.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS)

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year verified work experience.
  • Or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Must possess a valid Florida Driver License.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others within and outside the Authority.  
  • Ability to handle restricted, sensitive, and confidential information.  
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service, serve the public, and represent the Authority with courtesy and professionalism.  

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

  • Standing up to 6 hours per day. 
  • Continuous walking. 
  • Occasional sitting.
  • Frequent lifting up to 50 Ibs or more.
  • Bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, dragging, reaching overhead, kneeling & crawling up to 6 hours per day.
  • Frequent climbing. 
  • Typing up to 6 hours per day. 
  • Frequent exposure to extreme weather. 
  • Occasional exposure to noxious fumes, chemicals & insects. 
  • Navigate very frequently heights, confined areas & excessive noise.
  • Frequent use of car/light truck. 
  • Very frequent use of heavy equipment.
  • Continuous use of power tools.
