1st shift = 7am-3pm
2nd shift = 3pm-11pm
3rd shift = 11pm - 7am
*Due to Union bumping rights, applicants must have shift flexibility*

2nd shift premium = $1.80/hr

3rd shift premium = $1.25/hr

SUMMARY
Operates machines such as cutoff saws, presses, and deburring machines that punch, cut structure and shape metal tubes by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Checks job specifications on shop orders in WIP system; verifies staged material and material number.
• Checks shop order for deburring requirements and sets up haven dump table for burrmaster operation by removing cotter pin, titling table to rear of haven, replacing cotter pin. Sets back plates/kicker belts to larger than outside diameter of tube. Cuts sample tubes to mean length per service order. changes Burrmaster. Burrmaster fingers adjust to OD of tube and brushes set ID/OD brush height to sample PD. Runs several pieces and visually/dimensionally inspects for scratches die marks, ID/OD burrs, weld splits and length. Scraps any nonconforming product. Makes an adjustment to machines until product is acceptable.
• Opens band, removes sample and matches to best-fit die. Backs out target and exit rolls. Shuts the machine down. Makes changes over and adjustments to die, rolls, block, blades and load table. Resets rolls, switches, scrap traps and safety guards. Starts machines and sets scrap timer. Cuts first piece and checks for nonconformity; i.e., scratches, dimples, length, blowout, excessive burrs. Checks length with digital vernier. Proceeds with order if everything is OK.
• Begins auto cutoff operation when change over operation is complete. Checks shop order for customer, quantity ordered, material/packaging requirements, tube characteristics and any special quality notes. Documents information on Daily Finishing Production Report or WIP. Makes sure staged material/packaging matches shop order material number/packaging requirements. Enters measurement results in WIP or manual Finishing Quality Check Sheet and attach to order. Visually checks tubing for nonconforming conditions, i.e., scratches, roll marks, weld splits, and forklift damage, rust, mill length. Measures tubing length. Runs sample pieces, visually inspects for nonconformity, i.e., scratches, die marks, weld splits, end cut conditions. Measures/tests characteristics within specifications and tolerances on shop order. Measures tubing length on digital vernier and enters in WIP (-,-followed by fraction 99/99). Measures inside diameter (when specified on shop order), gauge thickness, and outside diameter. Checks both ends with plug gauge. Enters all measurements in WIP or Finishing Quality Check Sheet. Visually inspects for C-marks, chatter, rust, end cut scratches, die clamp marks, excessive burrs. Enters pass/fail in WIP. Print and tag with appropriate inventory numbers.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITES

Ability to operate machinery, saws. Ability to use measuring equipment, hand tools, digital readout vernier and plug gauges. Knowledge of carton packaging and lift operations.
