As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Shop Foreman to lead our talented 2nd shift team.
The Opportunity:
We are looking for an experienced and motivated 2nd Shift Shop Foreman to oversee our evening operations. The ideal candidate is a natural leader with a deep understanding of welding and fabrication processes, a commitment to safety, and a drive for quality. You will be responsible for supervising the shop floor, managing workflow, and ensuring that our 2nd shift team operates at the highest level of efficiency and safety to meet production goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of 10-15 welders and fabricators during the 2nd shift.
Plan, assign, and direct work to ensure production schedules and project deadlines are met.
Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and welding procedure specifications (WPS) to ensure products are fabricated to exact standards.
Serve as the front-line for quality control, inspecting work in progress and finished products to ensure they meet all quality and code requirements (e.g., AWS D1.1).
Champion a safety-first culture by rigorously enforcing all company and OSHA safety regulations.
Troubleshoot production issues, equipment malfunctions, and personnel conflicts with a calm and decisive approach.
Manage shift hand-offs and coordinate with the 1st shift foreman to ensure a seamless transition and continuous workflow.
Maintain accurate production records, including time tracking and job progress reports.
Provide ongoing training and development for team members to enhance their skills and performance.
The Ideal Candidate:
Minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on experience in a metal fabrication or welding environment.
At least 2-3 years of proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role (Foreman, Lead Hand, etc.).
Expert proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
In-depth knowledge of various welding processes, including MIG (GMAW), Stick (SMAW), and Flux-Cored (FCAW).
Experience with structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication is essential.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to motivate a team and hold them accountable.
AWS or other relevant welding certifications are a significant plus.
Must be proactive, highly organized, and an excellent problem-solver.
Compensation & Schedule:
Pay: $65,000 - $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience. The average salary for a Welding Foreman in the Orlando area is approximately $71,000.
Schedule: Full-time, 2nd Shift (typical hours are approximately 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM), Monday to Friday, with potential for overtime as required by project demands.
