Guardian Residential Services (GRS) is actively seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). Our ideal candidates will be working with and providing person-centered support to individuals who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in a group home setting.
Direct Support Professional
LOCATION: Gainesville, Virginia
*Starting Wage: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
JOB TITLE: Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Current Openings:
Tier 1- (Entry-level lead position)
Tier 2- (Min. one year of experience in the field)
Tier 3- (Min. two years of experience in the field)
JOB SUMMARY: Provide leadership and direction for Direct Support Professionals and ensure the overall quality of care for all individuals receiving services, in addition to mastering the skills of a Direct Support Professional.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate proficiency in the performance of all duties and responsibilities of a Direct Support Professional
- Assist in the development of Direct Support Professionals by providing ongoing guidance on standards of care, to further the rehabilitation of individuals receiving services
- Reinforce and ensure execution of rehabilitation plans and goals, to improve outcomes for each individual
- Ensure medications are properly dispensed and documented in accordance with company policy, and assist with monthly medication administration review procedures
- Reinforce training through the provision of immediate feedback and support to Direct Support Professionals
- Ensure proper and timely completion and submission of all documentation each shift
- Maintain current working knowledge of documentation requirements, and assist in the completion of documentation audits, to ensure compliance with company policy and state regulations
- Collect and enter data as assigned, to provide accurate reporting to Designated Coordinators and other support team members
- Ensure professional coordination and communication with internal and external team members to deliver comprehensive care
- Support the development of a culture that fosters open communication and positivity
- Provide services in a non-discriminating manner
- Maintain willingness and flexibility to work in a variety of environments with a variety of individuals
- Assist in the organization and presentation of information in team meetings
- Maintain a working knowledge of and abide by company policies and procedures Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Successful clearance of background study as specified by licensing agencies
- Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company policy
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Tier 2 Homes: One (1) year of full-time work experience providing direct care services to persons with disabilities or persons age 65 or older
- Tier 3 Homes: Two (2) years of full-time work experience providing direct care services to persons with disabilities or persons age 65 or older
