Perform a variety of set up, operation, inspection and preventative maintenance specific to daily machinists' functions (such as coolants, oil, visual inspections pertaining to the machines) on all machinery in the parts manufacturing environment. Continually strive for cost effective machining practices, such as eliminating scrap parts and set up time reduction. Tools & Equipment All production and/or support equipment and tools required for machining, set up, parts modification, inspection and inventory. Materials Materials called for by part specification or technical direction, including all cutting tool materials. Direction of Others Instruct, demonstrate and oversee persons in other related jobs within the parts manufacturing environment and take necessary corrective actions when required. Working Procedure 1) Receive oral and written information from area supervisor area engineer or programmer and perform needed operations per instructions. 2) Set up, adjust and maintain set up on all production machinery in the parts manufacturing environment. 3) Set up and operate production or support machinery to modify parts per appropriate specifications, making necessary inspection check to ensure conformance to quality standards. 4) Monitor progress of work throughout departments to ensure compliance with specifications. Re-write or edit part program data when necessary. 5) Develop fixtures, clamping devices and non-standard machine tooling when necessary. Work without M.P.s as required. 6) Maintain necessary production and inventory records with the use of a personal computer, including but not limited to: run-time data, S.P.C. and machine program downloading following Kanban guidelines. 7) Perform specified preventative maintenance as required. 8) Follow and maintain safety rules and practices. 9) Perform required housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and orderly work environment. High School Diploma or GED Equivalent from an accredited institution. Successful completion of certified and/or in-house apprenticeship program, trade school certificate and/or 2+ years of experience.
