Job Description - 4-H Summer Assistant

Big Stone County is seeking a 4-H Summer Assistant to assist the County Extension support staff in preparing for the county fair. Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a background study.



This is a temporary/seasonal position scheduled up to 30 hours per week from approximately June 1 to July 31, 2025. This position has a starting pay of $17.26/hour and is not eligible for benefits.



Applications for this position will be accepted through 4:00 pm May 18th, 2025.



JOB SPECIFICATIONS:



A. EDUCATION: Must be able to read and follow written instructions and diagrams.



B. CREDENTIALS: None required



C. LICENSE: Valid driver’s license required.



D. CONTINUING EDUCATION: None required.



E.  JOB KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
      Must be organized and attention to detail.
      Ability to communicate professionally orally and in writing with 4-H exhibitors and family members.
      Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide, and calculate percentages, fractions, and decimals.



F.  EMPLOYMENT VARIABLES: Expected to work longer hours during the County Fair.



G.  PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS: None required.



H.  JOB RELATIONSHIPS: This position reports to the 4-H Program Coordinator.



I.  EQUIPMENT, TOOLS or MACHINERY USED: This position must be able to use a computer, printer, copy machine, fax machine, phone and calculator. This position must be able to drive a county vehicle.
