About Us:

Mystic Valley Regional Charter School, located in Malden, MA, was founded in 1998 and serves over 1,600 students from Kindergarten through Grade 12.

Our school is built on the principles of outstanding teaching, a carefully selected curriculum delivered with fidelity, high expectations, and traditional pedagogical methods. These key elements contribute to the ongoing success of our students.

Students in Grades K-12 follow a dress code and attend school for 200 instructional days. Our school day is extended by one hour compared to most traditional public schools, ensuring our students receive a world-class education.

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Spanish Teacher to implement the Spanish program for Grades 7-12 at Mystic Valley Regional Charter School. The teacher will deliver instruction based on the Core Knowledge curriculum and methodology. High school Spanish courses may also include assignments aligned with the rigorous and internationally recognized International Baccalaureate (IB) program.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a comprehensive program of study based on the documented curriculum, Core Knowledge program, and, when applicable, IB methodology. Teachers are typically assigned five subject-area classes, each meeting daily.

  • Teach using Core Knowledge and IB methodologies to ensure effective language acquisition.

  • Develop lessons and units based on clear, measurable learning objectives.

  • Regularly assess student progress, providing timely progress reports and report cards as required.

  • Collaborate weekly with colleagues in the Languages department, including the Department Chair, to discuss curriculum, instruction, assessments, data analysis, and teaching methodologies.

  • Uphold the school’s assertive discipline model to maintain a focused and respectful classroom environment.

  • Attend all staff meetings and engage in ongoing professional development programs.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Undertake additional duties as assigned by the Languages Department Chair, Assistant Director, Assistant Superintendent, and/or Superintendent/Director.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Spanish or a related field.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to write clear reports and correspondences.

  • Capacity to evaluate student performance and recommend appropriate actions.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and address student challenges.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community.

  • Awareness of and adherence to all school policies, state and federal laws, and MVRCS guidelines.

  • Proven ability to assess student skills and summarize findings in meaningful reports.

  • Strong collaborative, teaching, coaching, and leadership abilities to support student programming in a team-oriented environment.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

  • Proactive, solution-focused approach to meeting student needs.

  • Knowledge of specialized content areas, as well as relevant laws and procedures.

  • Ability to plan and implement lessons tailored to district and school objectives, considering the needs and abilities of students.

This position reports to the Languages Department Chair. The role will be evaluated annually and offers an annual appointment.
