Position: 7–12 Science Teacher
Location: Mystic Valley Regional Charter School – Malden, MA

Position Overview:
MVRCS seeks a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher for Grades 7–12. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality instruction aligned with the Core Knowledge curriculum and, at the high school level, may teach courses within the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) program.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver daily instruction to five science classes, using Core Knowledge and IB methodology.

• Design and implement lessons based on clear learning objectives and school standards.

• Assess and monitor student progress regularly, providing timely feedback through progress reports and report cards.

• Administer standardized assessments as directed by the department and school leadership.

• Collaborate weekly with Science Department colleagues, including the Department Chair, to align instruction, analyze data, and improve student outcomes.

• Implement the school’s classroom management system with consistency and fidelity.

• Attend staff meetings and participate in ongoing professional development.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Science Department Chair and/or Assistant Director.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, General Science, or a related field required.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Analytical and problem-solving abilities to support data-informed instruction.

• Commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.

• Familiarity with relevant educational laws, standards, and best practices.

• Ability to create and deliver effective lesson plans tailored to student needs.

• Experience with student assessment and data-driven instruction.

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

• Must pass applicable Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) within one year of hire.

Supervision and Evaluation:
This position reports to the Science Department Chair and is subject to annual evaluation. It is a yearly appointment.
