8th Grade ELA Teacher

Position Summary:
The 8th Grade ELA Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, standards-aligned instruction in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. This teacher will foster critical thinking, literary analysis, and strong communication skills, preparing students for high school and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement daily lesson plans aligned to state standards and school curriculum
• Teach reading comprehension, literary analysis, vocabulary development, grammar, and writing composition
• Incorporate a range of texts including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and drama
• Prepare students for standardized assessments and high school English courses
• Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and provide feedback
• Maintain an inclusive, student-centered classroom environment that supports all learners
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress
• Collaborate with grade-level and content-area colleagues
• Participate in professional development and school events
   

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or related field (Master’s preferred)
• Valid teaching certification in ELA (grades 6–8 or 5–9)
• Minimum 1–2 years of middle school teaching experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of adolescent literacy, writing instruction, and classroom management
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education
