Job Description - ABA Training Specialist

A Bridge To Achievement is seeking an energetic and career-minded professional to join our team! We are currently hiring a full time Training Specialist that would oversee agency orientation and training for our new hires for our Charlotte region. This would include both of our Charlotte Center locations in Pineville & University City, NC. The applicant must be willing to work between the hours of 8:00AM and 6:00 PM, though scheduled times may vary. Some travel will be required.

We are looking for professionals who want to make a positive difference in the lives of those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families.

A Bridge to Achievement is a rapidly growing agency that provides family-centered Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services, emphasizing the future of children with ASD and their families. Our expert team of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and highly trained behavior technicians use evidence-based ABA methods to teach children social, communication, play, cognitive, and self-care skills, while reducing problem behaviors in a variety of settings based on the family needs.

At ABtA, we understand that ASD has a dramatic and lifelong impact on individuals with this diagnosis and their families. We partner with parents to understand their children by identifying their strengths, interests, and learning styles. Using ABA and other evidence-based techniques, our highly-trained clinicians focus on therapies and interventions that use positive reinforcement to teach the children we support to reach their full potential. We then integrate our services in a variety of settings striving to create the most effective learning experience and promote positive change across all aspects of the lives of the children we serve and their families.

By joining the ABtA Training Department, you will help contribute to the overall success of our staff, learners, centers, and agency through the integral job duties listed below.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in applied behavior analysis, psychology, social work, human services, healthcare administration or other relevant field preferred 
  • General understanding of adult learning theories, instructional design models, and training methodologies 
  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification required 
  • Minimum of one year of ABA experience required (Lead RBT or ABA training experience preferred). 
  • CPR/First Aid Instructor preferred 
  • Alternatives to Restrictive Intervention Instructor Certification preferred (Provided internally)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Individual with a commitment to fostering employee morale & retention across all training practices 
  • Demonstrated commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting a positive workplace culture characterized by fairness, respect, & inclusivity
  • Ability to work effectively and stay solution-oriented within a fast-paced environment
  • Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary for explaining complex concepts, facilitating training sessions, and creating instructional materials.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and G Suite
  • Strong time management and excellent attention to detail 
  • Advanced presentation and facilitator skills including familiarity with multimedia tools and other technology needed for training programs
  • Building rapport with new hires, understanding their needs, and addressing questions or concerns are essential for creating a positive learning environment
  • A criminal background check, driving record check, healthcare registry and background check is required for this position

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Follow all training department policies and procedures to ensure new hires have an efficient and successful orientation to the agency
  • Teach new hires or current employees all agency or insurance funder required training presentations and certifications as needed 
  • Develop, lead, and follow up on workshops scheduled during orientation and as refreshers for new hires or current employees 
  • Act as a peer mentor for any new hires orienting to the agency 
  • Gather feedback from new hires that go through orientation through check ins, surveys or other methods as set out by supervisor 
  • Monitors the status of each new hire during orientation to ensure necessary deadlines are met
  • Maintain all internal training department documents, spreadsheets or certifications to ensure they meet audit readiness standards within our ERMS systems 
  • Maintain knowledge on training materials through professional development and continuing education in relevant fields
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned within the scope of practice

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard 
  • Must be able to tolerate sit or stand for up to four hours 
  • Must be able to talk and present for long periods of time 
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30lbs (projectors, CPR and FA materials, laptops, storage containers) 
  • Travel up to 25%
