Able Seaman

Description

 Serves as seaman aboard multi-service, SOLAS vessels.  Reports to Master and/or designated deck officer.  Responsible for upholding Master’s Standing Orders and the safe, secure, and environmentally sound execution of all vessel operations – including third party activities.  Maintains adherence to Master’s ultimate authority.  Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, classification society rules and international conventions.  Obeys and routinely reviews Company policies and procedures; recommends amendments as needed.  Safely maintains the vessel.  

Requirements

International Capacities (STCW)

Able Seafarer – Deck

Rating forming part of a navigational watch (RFPNW).

Vessel Personnel with Security Duties (VPDSD)

Proficiency in survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats (PSC).

Medical First-Aid Provider.

Advanced Firefighting.

Basic Training.
