Job Duties:

The Academic Coordinator is responsible for providing direct services for the low-income, first generation-to-go-to-college high school participants as well as assisting the Upward Bound Director in planning, coordinating, and implementing academic, cultural, and social activities during both the academic year and six-week summer session.

Shift: 8:00am-5:00pm Monday through Friday. Weekends, evenings and summer hours as needed.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops, facilitates, and evaluates educational pre-college program content and materials
  • Identifies opportunities for pre-college program improvement or new service development
  • Schedules, secures, and communicates logistics and resources in support of educational program events and conferences
  • Designs and drafts program specific materials and resources for an educational pre-college program

Compensation:

$45,000-$48,108 annually

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree plus relevant experience

  • Demonstrated experience working with youth or educational programs.

  • Demonstrated experience with planning events or group activities, promotion, and implementation.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively with target school contacts and university colleagues.

  • Ability to effectively and efficiently work in a team capacity

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.

  • Strong oral presentation and written communication skills

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be available for evening and weekend work, especially during the six-week summer session. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in education, counseling, or related field  

  • Demonstrated experience working with low-income, first-generation students and their families. 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the college and financial aid application processes

  • Demonstrated experience with planning academic programs and/or college access advising

  • Federal TRiO Program experience
