Job Description - Academic Intervention Manager, Promise Academy

Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) Promise Academy – top-performing K-12 charter schools within HCZ’s cradle-to-career pathway of comprehensive services – seeks an Academic Intervention Manager for the upcoming school year!

The Academic Intervention Manager will bring a passion for the goal of HCZ Promise Academy: to get all our scholars to and through college. The ideal candidate cares deeply about children, respects the culture of Harlem’s residents, and is eager to make an impact in our community and beyond.

The Academic Intervention Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing and improving academic support services across all schools within the network. This position involves leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of intervention programs designed to address scholar academic needs and enhance overall outcomes. This role focuses on providing leadership and support to schools and personnel to meet the diverse academic needs of scholars, including those with learning gaps.

Reports to: Director of MTSS

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years teaching experience, including a record of success (required).
  • Knowledge of instruction, relevant curriculum and strategies leading to success for scholars not meeting grade level standards. 
  • A strong background in effective implementation of professional development, data assessment, and instructional coaching. 
  • A valid New York State Teaching Certification (required).
  • Masters Degree in Education from accredited college or university (preferred).
  • Knowledge of adult learning styles and best practices for coaching and providing feedback.
  • Ability to develop respectful professional relationships, and build trust with teachers.
  • Cultural competency and ability to navigate and promote sensitivity with issues of race, disability, and equity.
  • Ability to coordinate and collaborate with diverse groups of professionals across multiple departments and the organization.
  • Experience coordinating and delivering professional development for a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Skilled multi-tasker and excellent time manager; ability to effectively achieve multiple goals and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint) and Google Drive.

Monday - Friday
