1. Project Description: To retain the services of a Temporary Professional/Technical personnel through the Indefinite Quantity (IQ) Job Shop Consultants program to support the DSO Office of Fire, Code and ADA regulations by ensuring compliance with New York State Fire and Building codes as well as with Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines ("ADAAG”) and participating in field inspections on an as-needed basis.
2. Professional/Technical Title: Associate Project Manager II (Code Compliance Specialist or Accessibility Specialist)3. Duration of Service Required: 52 weeks.
4. Normal Work Week: Monday through Friday5. No. of Hours Per Week: 40 hours; occasional overtime hours may be requested.
6. Hours of Work: 8:00 am to 5:30 pmTechnical 80% and 20% Administrative: Office: 60% and field: 40% Access to right of way required: Yes
7. Unpaid lunch hour9. Reports to: P.E., Vice President, Fire, Code, Accessibility and Code Compliance
10. Education Qualifications Requirements:• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in an engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, project management, business administration or public administration and two (2) years' experience or
• Four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six (6) years' experience or• Four-year high school diploma or its equivalent plus any combination of college education
and/or experience to make up the equivalent of six (6) years' education and experience.11. Experience Requirements:
• Minimum of two years' experience in Code Enforcement, accessible design, plan review of Fire Department Operations, Energy Conservation, or site inspections having served in a supervisory capacity or one year as a project manager for a large and/or complex construction project.• One year of experience will be given for:
• 30 semester credits of college education leading to a Bachelor's.• A master's degree from those disciplines described in #10.
• A valid license as a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect.12. Licensing Requirements: None
13. Desired Skills/Training Requirements:• Building Materials Knowledge
• Knowledge of MS Office Suite• OSHA 30-hour certification required before participating in work on or near wayside.
• Must pass track safety training at NYC Transit; Metro North Railroad or Long Island Railroad, as needed.• If offered to the consultant, must pass NYS Code Enforcement Official Certification class.
14. Description of Work:• Under direction, candidate will review capital projects in all phases of the project life cycle (pre-design through closeout phases) for compliance with State Fire and Building Codes as well as Federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
• Conduct review of project drawings and narratives at Master Plan, Scope of Work and various Design phases for compliance with State Fire and Building codes as well as ADA regulations and provide comments.• Attend Design review meetings to ensure ADA regulations are incorporated into project designs.
• On occasion, conduct construction acceptance and/or maintenance inspections for Fire, Code and ADA inspections for station and facility rehabilitations to ensure compliance with State Fire and Building Codes as well as with the Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines ("ADAAG”) standards and the contract documents.Other Work Requirements:
