Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accessory Development Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a key role in guiding accessories through the development process, ensuring on-time launch, adherence to regulations, and continuous improvement in accessory quality. The Development Engineer will collaborate with suppliers, internal resources, and customers to drive projects from initiation to production.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with suppliers in designing, testing, and approving accessories to ensure 100% on-time launch.
Conduct regular status meetings with suppliers and customers to ensure milestone readiness.
Utilize engineering principles, CAD, and available tools to analyze and evaluate assigned projects.
Ensure that all products meet State and Federal regulations and adhere to established design standards.
Implement lessons learned activities using DFMEA and post-development meetings with program shareholders.
Provide regular reports on project status, maintaining records and files per department policy.
Create and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, DFMEA, DVP&R, prototype fitments, and specifications.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI):
Ensure on-time development of assigned projects.
Meet all specifications and contribute to warranty cost reduction.
Conduct status meetings with suppliers and customers.
Create and maintain engineering documentation.
Manage project plans, deliverables, timelines, and issue resolution.
Perform part installations and document fitment, performance, and technical issues.
Support APQP and PPAP documentation.
Attend various communication meetings with customers.
Support installation training events at Ports of Entry and Vehicle Personalization Centers.
Conduct root cause analysis in troubleshooting development and field issues.
Work Schedule & Travel Requirements:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. WFH: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. In Office: Tuesday and Thursday.
Minimal overnight travel (up to 30%) by land and/or air.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
Experience Requirements:
2 - 4 years of development experience.
2+ years of project management and vendor management experience.
DVP or DFMEA documentation experience.
Experience with Catia preferred; experience with SolidWorks.
Experience in program management through work experience or college team projects.
Experience in design, design analysis, and material and part testing.
