Job Description - Accommodation Specialist

ACCOMODATION SPECIALIST



The Accommodation Special coordinates all aspects of adaptive course testing services and reasonable disability accommodations in concert with the Director. The Accommodation Specialist reports to the Director of Testing and Accessibility Services.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



• Coordinate and supervise the administration of adaptive course testing services and assistive technology.



• Ensure the teaching and enforcing of department administrative procedures and test security standards are upheld.



• Recruit, train, and supervise all test administrators and proctors, address testing problems and discrepancies with examinees.



• Coordinate the scheduling of tests, advocating for recommended accommodations for testing, interpreting government regulations, working with academic departments to supply readers/scribes, setting up and troubleshooting assistive technology, following up with instructors.



• Coordinate activities to provide students with reasonable course accommodations that are supported by the student’s disability documentation.



• In addition, may modify existing approved accommodations or implement new accommodations.



• Ensure that the confidentiality of all Testing and Accessibility Services’ clients is kept.



• Perform clerical/receptionist duties.



• Provide information and referral to students and professionals.



• Conduct workshops and presentations regarding reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities in conjunction with the programs offered by Testing and Accessibility Services.



• Train and supervise student workers regarding reasonable accommodations and assistive technology in concert with the Director.



• Supervise the processing of all required documents needed to carry out the disability accommodation process.



• Manage the accommodation budget in concert with the Director.



• Engage in relevant professional development activities.



• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.



EDUCATION



Bachelor's degree is required

ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with 
disabilities to perform the essential functions.



OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES



One year experience in a position that requires excellent communication skills and attention to 
detail is required. Experience working in postsecondary academic support services, with
disability services, testing, or assistive technology will be given preference. Ability to accurately 
prepare and process records, requisitions, and reports.
