Job Description - Account Director Alternative Data

We’re hiring an Account Director to grow revenue from our hedge fund clients. This role is focused on onboarding new accounts, expanding existing relationships across teams, and driving upsells and renewals within active users.

You’ll work closely with our co-founders, analysts, and sales team to ensure clients see the full value of our ~70 company-specific data feeds. You’ll open doors, manage trials, build relationships, and keep commercial conversations active.

We’re looking for someone who understands the alternative data space and knows how hedge funds evaluate data and how to scale data partnerships.

New Client Onboarding
  • Engage warm prospects from events or referrals
  • Manage trials from start to finish, ensuring prospects get what they need to evaluate our data
  • Coordinate with analysts when deeper product insight is needed
  • Convert trials into long-term subscriptions
 
Account Expansion
  • Build relationships with central data buyers and help them champion Hatched internally
  • Map client firms to identify additional PMs, analysts, or teams who could benefit from our insights
  • Use events such as recent earning results and new launches to spark new conversations
 
Key Account Management 
  • Stay in regular contact with current clients, ensuring they are getting value from our data
  • Highlight product news such as earnings estimates and report enhancements  to drive engagement.  Discuss new launches they might consider.  
  • Identify upsell opportunities and encourage broader adoption
  • Flag potential churn risks and collaborate with wider Hatched team to re-engage

  • 3+ years in a commercial or client-facing role in alternative data or financial services
  • Strong understanding of how hedge funds  evaluate and adopt data products
  • Proven track record of growing accounts and managing long-term relationships
  • Commercial instinct – focused on revenue, not just activity
  • Strong communicator – skilled in working with PMs, analysts, and central data teams
  • Collaborative and proactive – knows when to lead and when to escalate
  • Willing to travel for client meetings, conferences, and team offsites
  • Ability to understand deep data products and ideally a strong interest in the stock market
