Accountant

We are seeking an Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team. This role will support the day-to-day financial management of our consumer revenue streams, assist with sales and use tax and other compliance tasks, and contribute to corporate accounting processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and excited to help build and scale financial operations in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

Responsibilities:

DTC Accounting

• Record and reconcile e-commerce and wholesale sales, returns, and payment processor activity (e.g., Shopify, Stripe, PayPal, etc.)


• Work closely with the Direct to Consumer Accountant to support and continuously improve all consumer-related accounting activities 


• Monitor and reconcile inventory-related costs as it relates to music, merchandise, blurays, and publishing 


• Process and track wholesale invoices, payments, and revenue recognition


• Partner with merchandise operations teams to ensure accurate month-end cutoffs and reporting

Tax Accounting

• Assist with sales tax filing and sales tax nexus tracking across U.S. states and international jurisdictions, and ensure compliance is up to date in e-commerce systems


• Support monthly/quarterly use tax and franchise tax filings


• Work with the Tax Manager to conduct regular tax-related research on emerging issues and evolving regulatory requirements

Corporate Accounting

• Prepare journal entries and monthly account reconciliations


• Assist with intercompany transactions between production, corporate, and consumer divisions


• Support external audit requests and maintain proper internal documentation and controls


• Participate in ad hoc projects and initiatives as they arise

Qualifications

• 3-4 years of relevant accounting experience


• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting, CPA required


• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong quantitative abilities


• Must be able to strive in a fast-paced and challenging environment


• Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and internal control procedures


• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills


• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments

Nice to have:

• Experience with consumer products, retail, or e-commerce


• Exposure to inventory and wholesale accounting workflows


• Experience with ERP systems

Our target salary range for this role is between $80,000 to $100,000. We do not use formal job titles internally and similarly named positions may have different compensation levels. Actual starting salary within the range will depend on various considerations, including: work experience, skills, specializations, and training. This role is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, including both cash and equity components, competitive healthcare, as well as other employee benefits.
