Salary Range
$61,500.00 - $91,875.00Overview
Under the general direction of a Senior Finance Manager and Director of Finance and with considerable latitude for discretion and independent judgement, provides financial and administrative support to the Departments of Surgery, Anesthesia and Orthopaedics, as part of the Surgical Specialties IBO (SOA). This position supports business office functions including but not limited to financial reporting and management of a portfolio of clinical specialties and other initiatives, review and approval of Workday transactions, processing of journal entries and payroll adjustments, procurement card monitoring and compliance, management and submission of Monthly Financial Review documents. This person will assist in the development of policies, procedures and internal controls in order to maintain compliance with university policies. Responsible for providing financial information through interpretation, analysis, reporting and reconciliation of data. Converts financial data into useful information that guides unit and/or university leadership to make informed decisions. Recommends improvements to systems, methods, practices, policies, and procedures through information review. Serves as contact for department faculty and staff for Business Office concerns and inquiries.
Required Skill and Abilities
1. Strong analytical, accounting financial management and problem-solving skills. Strong computer skills including MS Excel, Word, Workday and YBT.
2.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to analyze issues, respond and solve problems and follow through to ensure successful completion of projects.
3.Possess sound independent judgement, intuition, and common sense with excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize and handle many tasks simultaneously in a complex, fast-paced environment.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Financial Analysis and Reporting: Analyzes information and creates accurate and timely reports that add value to the management of University operations. Applies GAAP to report out on financial conditions. Ensures financial reporting meets the compliance needs of internal and external users. Extracts data from multiple sources. 2. Financial Methods and Systems: Recommends methods to improve practices, processes and systems. Works with internal and external contacts to carry out department objectives. Provides a high level of service that cultivates and maintains strong working relationships and effectively communicates information; takes ownership and accountability for timeliness, accuracy and relationship management. 3. Accounting and Reconciliation: Accurately records enterprise or subsystem transactions to balance sheets, income statements, and other financial records. Performs reconciliations; navigates through systems and reporting tools to independently resolve routine and non-routine discrepancies. Applies entries to the general ledger or subsystems and ensures adherence to GAAP, regulatory requirements and financial reporting considerations. Communicates effectively to unit leadership. 4. Strategic Resource: Translates unit finance objectives into priorities. Reports financial issues and risks and makes recommendations. Contacts appropriate stakeholders to include in communications and approvals. 5. Compliance and Risk Management: Establishes, implements and/or maintains strong internal controls in areas of assigned responsibility to provide reasonable assurance of effective and appropriate resources use, accurate financial information, and adherence to contractual obligations and agreements, policies, procedures, and external regulatory requirements. 6.
