Position Summary

 

This position works under general supervision to perform intermediate-level professional accounting work in the areas of property tax, conducting tax parcel calculations, some general ledger accounting, and other related accounting functions.

 

Pay Grade: 52 

Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education
 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Three (3) years of proven experience in the use of accounting principles, techniques, and theories; AND
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, or a related field; OR
  • An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.
  • Experience in a public agency preferred.
  • PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Maintains accounting records involving technical accounting data.
  • Updates and analyzes database activity for tax parcels. Prepares specialized accounting reports.
  • Records and reconciles to general ledger accounts; prepares journal entries; makes corrections or adjustments as needed
  • Integrates accounts receivable according to tax parcels; processes and posts payments received for taxes or fees; reviews receipts, escrow accounts, and other financial reports.
  • Research and resolve issues regarding technical accounting problems.
  • Performs other duties as required or directed.

 

KSAs

 

  • Knowledge of accounting theories and practices.
  • Skilled in the utilization of Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple assignments concurrently.
  • Ability to maintain detailed accounting records.
  • Ability to manipulate data within database programs.
  • Ability to use systems, knowledge, and skills to produce consistently error-free results.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with the public and co-workers.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics, Great Plains, preferred.

Shelby County Resident Disclaimer
