Accountant I for Client Advisory and Accounting Support Services

Summary: This position is responsible for providing accounting and advisory services to clients, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and offering strategic support to assist clients in achieving their financial goals. This entry-level role involves assisting with a variety of accounting functions and supporting the team with client-facing engagements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing and reviewing financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) or other applicable standards.


• Help ensure the timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.


• Conduct basic financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks.


• Support the preparation of financial reports for clients and assist in presenting key findings.


• Provide basic recommendations for improving financial performance and compliance.


• Assist with client communications and help address routine client inquiries related to accounting or financial concerns.


• Maintain supporting documentation and assist in month-end and year-end closings.


• Assist with preparing tax filings, including corporate and individual returns.


• Help ensure clients meet local, state, and federal compliance requirements.


• Support the team with various regulatory deadlines.


• Work closely with senior accountants, managers, and other team members to manage client accounts.


• Attend and participate in client meetings, providing support where needed.


• Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the CAASS department.


• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.


• Basic knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations.


• Proficient with MS Office Suite or similar software with the ability to learn new or updated software.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


• Detail oriented & ability to multi-task.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, required.


•  year’ experience in public accounting audit experience, preferred.


• Experience in governmental accounting, preferred.


• Experience in client advisory or consulting services, preferred.

Physical/Mental/Visual Demands and Work Environment:

• This job is conducted in an office work environment, sitting most of the time, working on a computer.


• Must be able to exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally.


• Travel is required.

Work Schedule: 

• Typically, Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm.


• Additional hours are required during peak season.


• 10-15% travel is expected for this position.
