Job Description - Accountant III

Description

     

General Ledger

  • Responsible for the integrity of the Association's general ledger. 
  • Research and analyze complex data transfers and reconcile between accounting, servicing and investor systems for accuracy and variances.
  • Post journal entries and clearly file supporting documentation.
  • Use judgment to independently determine how to handle new transaction when reconciling software

Loan and Investor Program

  • Research and analyze data transfers and reconcile between servicing systems and investor reporting systems for accuracy and variances.
  • Reconcile and remit funds to investors.
  • Ensure acceptable business practices and procedures have been followed for compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Initiate funds transfers (book transfers) to transact (e.g. loan acquisition, partner state, federal programs, and servicing activities)

Partner State Reporting

  • Able to independently and accurately calculate management fees earned and maintain supporting documentation.
  • Independently determine which investors and partner states need to be paid and then timely and accurately remit funds to appropriate parties.
  • Support loan purchases.
  • Prepare and distribute summary reports to internal and external parties 

Audits

  • Responsible for accurate and timely preparation of audit-related deliverables and confirmations
  • Assist with other department’s internal and external audit requirements

Continuous Education

  • Cross train with others in the Finance department to provide backup/support as needed.
  • Research and understand new compliance guidelines as they are  issued.

Communication

  • Provide assistance with questions from within the accounting department and other departments within IHFA.
  • Able to interact with entities that have governance authority on standard recurring communications. 
  • Provide assistance with questions from third parties outside the organization.

 

May perform other additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

     

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred or related work experience. 
  • Understanding of financial and accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with accounting software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Ability to use intermediate functions such as VLOOKUP, IF statements, and pivot tables, analyzing data   sets and generating reports.
  • Strong analytical skills with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to present and explain information to team members and others.
  • Effective Time Management and Organization: Self-motivated with a track record of independently scheduling, organizing, planning, and   prioritizing tasks to consistently meet critical deadlines.
  • Ensure acceptable business practices and procedures have been followed for compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Display professionalism, positive attitudes, engagement, and a productive work ethic.
