Accountant - Start Now

Summary:

The Accountant is a key member of the accounting department and supports the company business processes at EpiCypher.

Position Responsibilities:

Revenue recognition and sales reporting.

• Generate customer invoices for services delivered.
• Partner with Services teams to maintain the revenue recognition policy.
• Record monthly services revenue.
• Support the sales and leadership teams through generating weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc sales and gross margin financial reports and related analyses.
• Calculate, report, and pay annual and semi-annual royalties.

Inventory, cost accounting, and revenue recognition.

• Manage the accounting for the company’s inventory.
• Understand and ensure all inventory transactions originating within the company’s Fishbowl inventory system are properly accounted for.
• Partner with manufacturing to set annual products costs, labor and overhead rates.
• Prepare cost allocations and post journal entries in the accounting system.
• Review and resolve inventory and cost of goods sold variances monthly.
• Partner with lab operations to complete annual physical counts of inventory.

Property and equipment accounting.

• Manage the accounting for the company’s property and equipment.
• Maintain company’s fixed asset and capitalization policy.
• Partner with lab operations to complete annual physical counts of equipment and computers.
• Prepare and file the company’s annual business personal property tax listing.
• Maintain schedules of leased assets and record monthly accounting entries.

Financial accounting and reporting.

• Play an integral role in completing the monthly financial closing and reporting process.
• Post adjusting journal entries in the accounting system.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
• Reconcile company bank accounts monthly to ensure all cash transactions have been recorded.
• Support annual audits – financial statements, NIH compliance, property tax, sales tax.

Payment processing.

• Deposit customer check payments. Record deposits in the accounting system.
• Propose vendor payments and employee reimbursements semi-monthly. Process ACH disbursements via the online banking system. Record payments in the accounting system.

Sales tax compliance.

• Assist with domestic sales tax compliance on all customer invoicing. Work with external sales tax compliance provider to report and pay sales tax timely and accurately.

Credentials and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
• One to five years’ experience in the accounting field.
• Software experience with QuickBooks and Fishbowl is preferred, but not required.
• Microsoft Office applications experience with fluency in Excel and Word is required.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proven time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Able to work toward specific goals in a multi-team environment.
