Job Description - Accountant/Distribution Company

Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant for a well-established distribution company in Fort Lauderdale.

The ideal candidate will have experience in full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and managing complex financial processes. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong background in accounting, particularly with a progressive career path, who is looking to contribute to an evolving organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing various accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with industry standards.

Tasks

As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Full-Cycle Accounting: Oversee the entire accounting process, from recording transactions to preparing financial statements. You will ensure that the company's financial records are accurate and compliant with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Accruals, Journal Entries, and Balance Sheet Reconciliations: You will be tasked with handling accruals, posting journal entries, and performing balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting: Utilize Excel to perform complex analyses, create pivot tables, and handle data lookups. You will work closely with senior management to interpret financial data and provide insights for business decision-making.
  • General Ledger (GL) Management: Manage and maintain the GL accounts, including ensuring the proper handling of debts and credits. You will provide accurate and timely financial reporting based on the GL.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Oversee the bank reconciliation process, ensuring that company accounts are accurately reconciled, and discrepancies are promptly addressed.
  • Support Sales and Operations: Work with the sales teams to manage buyers' products, particularly in a distribution environment, ensuring that financial processes align with operational activities. This role will also involve working with overseas operations, so an understanding of international transactions is valuable.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Progressive Career Growth: A demonstrated history of career growth in accounting roles, with increasing responsibility and complexity of tasks.
  • Full-Cycle Accounting Experience: Solid experience in full-cycle accounting, including accruals, journal entries, and reconciliations.
  • Advanced Excel Skills: Proficient in Excel, with the ability to use pivot tables, advanced formulas, and lookups to analyze and report financial data.
  • General Ledger Expertise: A strong understanding of GL accounts, including how to handle debts, credits, and perform necessary reconciliations.
  • Bank Reconciliation Expertise: Strong experience in managing the bank reconciliation process to ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  • Experience with ERP Systems: Proficiency with SAP Business One (B1) or JD Edwards E1, and knowledge of their use in accounting functions.
  • QuickBooks Proficiency: Experience working with QuickBooks for accounting and financial reporting.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting: A formal education in accounting will be highly regarded.
  • Experience in Distribution: Previous experience working in a distribution business will be beneficial.
  • External Audit Experience: Experience with external audits is a significant plus.
