Accounting Analyst

Position Summary:

BioFire Defense is seeking a versatile and detail-oriented Accounting Analyst to support a wide range of accounting functions, with a focus on fixed asset management and equipment tracking. This position will also play a flexible role in supporting broader accounting and finance responsibilities, which may evolve over time based on department priorities and individual skillsets.

Key Responsibilities:

Fixed Asset Management

• Maintain and reconcile fixed asset subledger and general ledger accounts


• Track capital asset purchases, disposals, transfers, and depreciation


• Conduct an annual physical audit of assets to verify use and condition


• Support budgeting and planning for new and replacement capital assets


• Actual to budget variance analysis


• Create and maintain capital spend cash flow forecast

Leased & Placed Instrument Tracking

• Track instruments placed with customers or under lease agreements


• Maintain accurate records of instrument deployment, location, and status


• Collaborate with Sales, Legal, and Operations to ensure correct financial treatment of customer-deployed assets


• Monitor asset-related revenue streams and support compliance with relevant accounting standards

General & Evolving Accounting Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly and quarterly close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations


• Prepare and maintain supporting documentation for audits and internal reviews


• Contribute to the development and enhancement of accounting processes and controls


• Participate in special projects or analyses as assigned


• Support other accounting functions (e.g., revenue recognition, expense tracking, inventory accounting, or financial reporting) based on skill level and department priorities

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred


• Minimum of 5+ years of relevant accounting experience with degree, or 10+ years of progressive accounting experience in lieu of a degree

Skills:

• Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.


• Ability to make sound decisions and recommendations with minimal or no supervision.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills


• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.


• Technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, queries, and data analysis.
