Job Description - Accounting Analyst I

SUMMARY: 


The Accounting Analyst reports to the Director of Accounting and is responsible for preparation of financial statements, posting of entries to general ledger, reconciliation of GL accounts and bank statements, Fixed Asset Accounting, FASB accounting, and periodic tax reporting. A background in a credit union or banking environment is preferred. 


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


• Participate month end close process and preparation of monthly financial reports for management, Board of


Directors, and other departments as required.


• Participate processing the CECL calculation (credit risk process) and reconciliation.


• Prepares budget variance analysis for different departments as needed and perform variance analysis to


various accounts to ensure financial accuracy and insight.


• Reconciles general ledger accounts and bank accounts.


• Perform General Ledger Account maintenance, processing routine and special reports for management.


• Responsible for maintaining all fixed asset records, prepaid records in Oracle NS (Accounting system) and


processing special reports as needed.


• Prepare various tax documents and tax returns, including F1099, F945/941(payroll related tax forms), tangible


personal property tax returns.


• Gather and organize reports for preparation of the annual tax return.


• Assist management in preparations of annual budget analysis.


• Participate NCUA quarterly 5300 call report preparation.


• Gather and organize reports and financial data to support various audits, including the annual financial audit


by external CPA firm, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submission.


• Support the preparation of the NCUA and OFR examinations by compiling and analyzing accounting-related


data.


• Back up other key Accounting processes such as Accounts Payable as needed.


• Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.


REQUIREMENTS


Education:


• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.


Experience:


·Financial Institution Experience: Background in a credit union or banking environment is preferred, not required


Any Applicable System Knowledge



  • Proficient in accounting systems and Microsoft Office, Advanced Excel (V-look-up, what-if, pivot tables).


Additional Requirements


Advanced Excel and other data analytical skills


· Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.


· Ability to multitask and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.


· Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
