Accounting & Finance Contractor

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Accounting & Finance Contractor provides hands-on, controller-level accounting and finance support directly to the CEO of Relentless Hospitality Collective. This is a "doer" role responsible for completing accounting and financial work directly rather than overseeing or delegating to a finance team. The contractor will work closely with the CEO to maintain accurate financial records, provide timely financial reporting, and support business decisions through financial analysis. 

WORK HOURS

• 8 hours per week, one day per week
• Day and time to be coordinated directly with the CEO
• In-person, on-site at the Scottsdale Office
• Independent Contractor (1099)
• Compensation: $75 per hour
• Start date: To be confirmed

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES include but are not limited to:

• Maintain and reconcile company books, including the general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Complete monthly close activities and ensure financial records are accurate and up to date.
• Prepare financial statements, cash flow reports, and budget-to-actual analysis.
• Review financial reports with the CEO and explain financial information in clear, easy-to-understand terms.
• Monitor the company’s cash position weekly and identify potential issues or opportunities.
• Review or process payroll, vendor payments, and related financial administration.
• Conduct financial analysis to support business decisions, including pricing, cost control, margins, and forecasting.
• Track tax filing deadlines and coordinate with the company’s outside CPA or tax preparer.
• Identify and address gaps in financial controls, accounting processes, and reporting.
• Take ownership of assigned accounting and finance projects from start to finish.
• Maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling financial and company information.
• Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including controller-level responsibilities.
• Strong hands-on accounting skills, including general ledger, reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and cash flow management.
• Comfortable working independently as the primary finance resource without a larger finance team.
• Strong proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
• Experience in hospitality, multi-entity organizations, or small/growing businesses is preferred.
• Highly trustworthy and comfortable handling confidential financial information.
• Comfortable working directly and one-on-one with the CEO.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information in plain language.
• Self-directed, organized, and able to complete a full workload independently within one focused workday per week.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve accounting or financial issues.
