Job Description - Accounting Assistant


Overview

The position of Accounting Assistant is responsible for the duties of internal financial auditing of expenses and credit cards, processing deposits, training staff members on AP systems, managing accounts, as well as coordinating AL accounts with outside companies and vendors. In addition, this role assists with all routine clerical and administrative work related to answering the phone, receiving & routing the public to the appropriate party, and data processing.

  • Participate in an Abundant Life group (Acts 2:41-42) as well as the discipleship ministry (Matthew 28:18-20).
  • Live in a way that glorifies God and aligns with the staff core values (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9).
  • Be committed to giving to the needs of the saints (2 Corinthians 8:1-7 & 9:12).
  • Become a member of Abundant Life Church

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Finance

  • Perform financial audits of expense accounts, corporate credit cards, and payables.
  • Prepare and distribute year-end giving statements to members.
  • Perform vendor account maintenance within the expense reporting system.
  • Manage corporate credit card disbursement and spending limits.
  • Process all campus giving on a weekly basis.
  • Manage giving accounts.
  • Assist Accounting Manager in month end close.

Business

  • Maintain corporate records.
  • Manage AL accounts for Sam’s, Costco, DOR, and more.
  • Gather documents and records as needed.
  • Convert current paper records to a digital format.

Front Office

  • Answer the office phone and direct calls accordingly.
  • Greet and assist guests in the Lee’s Summit Campus office.
  • Operate office machinery as required.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

This position operates in a fast-paced, professional office environment and routinely uses office equipment such as phones, copiers, and other standard equipment. Typing, proofreading, and computer skills (including proficiency in Microsoft Office) are required, along with the ability to handle precise detail in relation to administrative tasks. Must have a heart for ministry and exhibit the patience, tact, respect, empathy, and courtesy required to be the “face” of Abundant Life to the outside community.

Education/Experience

A high school diploma (or equivalent) and 2 or more years of experience in an administrative finance/receptionist role are recommended to perform the job duties of this position.
