Job Description - Accounting Assistant


The Viera Company is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant  to provide essential accounting support for The Viera Company and affiliated Real Estate Group entities. This role involves managing purchase orders, processing accounts payable, preparing journal entries, and conducting general ledger account analysis. The successful candidate will contribute to the accuracy and efficiency of our financial operations within a professional and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Process Real Estate Group payables using DocLink and Sage, including verifying documentation, coding invoices, matching purchase orders, printing checks, and maintaining records.
  • Prepare routine home closing and cost of sale journal entries, update the Home Building Profit Analysis database, and support other standard journal entry preparation as needed
  • Prepare and process bank deposits and generate corresponding standard deposit journal entries
  • Support month-end and year-end close by preparing journal entries, compiling general ledger documentation, and performing related administrative tasks such as scanning, copying, and data entry
  • Provide administrative and research support for real estate tax payments, including map printing, parcel status verification, and spreadsheet preparation
  • Respond to inquiries from department heads and external stakeholders by compiling and providing necessary information

Requirements:
  • A high school diploma is required; a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration is strongly preferred
  • 3+ years of accounting administration experience
  • 5+ years’ experience with Microsoft Excel and Adobe Acrobat X
  • Previous experience with Sage 300 construction, real estate software, database management and/or Microsoft Dynamics preferred
