Position Summary
The Accounting Assistant will assist in the operation of the finance department with a focus on Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, records management and account entries.
What You’ll Do
Foster a culture of safety awareness & safety prioritization that ensures compliance. Ensure that quality standards are met, and champion quality ownership of the work center. Enforce all company rules, policies, and procedures; communicate concerns with division management and/or Corporate. Open incoming mail and distribute it to staff accordingly. Review and distribute accounts payable invoices for approval. Enter invoices for payment in the accounts payable system. Assist with check preparation and match checks to supporting documentation. Review monthly vendor statements and research discrepancies. Contact delinquent customers and collect past due amounts. Process customer payments and apply payments in the accounts receivable system. Assist with vendor and customer file maintenance. Assist with daily bank statements, accounts receivable, and billing as needed. Provide backup for front desk coverage as needed. Perform other accounting related duties as assigned.
Experience and Certifications
Two years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping preferred. Experience in manufacturing and/or distribution setting is a plus. Knowledge of utilizing computerized accounting software. Experience in using various computer software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite required.

Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and shift priorities when necessary. Attention to detail and methods for ensuring accuracy. Excellent verbal communication skills. Must possess an energetic and positive attitude and be willing to change and develop as the requirements of assigned tasks dictate. High-energy, adaptable, and team-oriented. Capable of maintaining a professional demeanor and ability to respectfully diffuse sensitive situations. Possess the ability to always maintain confidentiality and discretion and handle sensitive information with confidentiality and tact.
Education Requirements
Associate degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience highly preferred. Certifications and additional education relating to the knowledge of bookkeeping and accepted accounting principles preferred.
