Position Overview
The Assistant Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing all accounting functions, overseeing a team of Accounting Department Assistants, and ensuring accuracy in financial reporting. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in accounting practices, preferably within the insurance sector.
Key Responsibilities:
General Accounting & Financial Reporting
Maintain accurate general ledger and ensure proper coding of transactions
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports
Oversight of bank account reconciliation, commission management
Monitor and record incoming premiums and outgoing commissions as needed, including JE’s
Monitor cash flow, expenses, and forecasting activities
Oversee E-PAY transactions, work with the Operations Team as needed
Run and analyze accounting-related reports
Collaborate with management to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making
Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance
Premium and Commission Accounting
Oversight of policy premiums, agency billings, and direct bill reconciliations
Oversight and processing of producer commission payments and carrier commission statements
Ensure timely posting of earned vs. unearned income for reporting
Reporting
Provide reports to management to support strategic decisions
Applied EPIC & Accounting System Management
Use Applied EPIC or comparable agency management software for financial tracking
Work with software vendors to troubleshoot and optimize system usage
Ensure proper system setup for financial workflows and reporting
Payables, Receivables & Cash Flow Management
Manage/Oversight of accounts payable (vendor payments, rent, utilities, etc.)
