The Opportunity Tree (TOT) has a full-time, in-person Accounting Associate position available at our central Phoenix campus!

Job Summary: The Accounting Associate job description entails performing accounting, administrative, and bookkeeping duties. 

Essential Job Functions:

1. Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable and accounts receivable, and ensure timely processing of invoices and payments.
2. Assist billing department with processing of timely attendance reporting. 
3. Maintain all computer reports related to accounting activities and supporting information for all transactions.
4. Audit accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit. Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information
5. Review daily postings for accuracy to include account numbers.
6. Process weekly manual check runs.
7. Maintain confidentiality of information regarding Members and TOT.
8. Advocate on behalf of the Members and their families to ensure individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities have a voice.
9. Compliant with attendance rules.
10. Promote and maintain a collaborative and respectful working environment and a line of communications with all stakeholders of TOT.
11. Comply and enforce the Policies, Procedures, and Regulations of TOT.

Other job duties as assigned. 

1.   Minimum of 18 years of age
2. Arizona driver license with Non-Restricted Motor Vehicle Record and compliance per the requirements of TOT’s insurance carrier.
3. Communicate in English; speech, write and read.
4. Excellent verbal and written skills.
5. Experience: Five (5) years of accounting preferred in the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) field.
6.  One (1) year of nonprofit accounting experience, preferred. 
7. Education: High school diploma or GED, bachelor's degree in accounting required.
8. Knowledge: Proficient in MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, web browsing (experience with other accounting software preferred).
9. Personal enthusiasm for participation in a non-profit organization, which provides services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
10. Positive attitude and ability to represent TOT effectively in the community. Ability to work collaboratively as a team member with Members, staff, families, funders and stakeholders.
11. Successful completion and maintain all required training which may include CPR, First Aid, Article 9, and Prevention and Support.
12. Successfully meet AZ-DPS requirements for Fingerprint Clearance Card.
13. Reliable transportation and possible travel for TOT business.
14. Skills to include but not limited to knowledge of principles in staff interaction, task productivity, time management, problem identification and resolution administration.
