The Role:

We are currently seeking a Log Accounting Clerk to join our accounting team. As a Log Accounting Clerk, you will maintain accurate and current records of log purchases, inventories, transfers, and payments. You will work closely with our Log Accounting Supervisor, log buyers, and other accounting team members to ensure timely recording of log purchases and payments in the log accounting system.

Responsibilities:

• Transfer log data from scaling bureaus to the log accounting tracking software
• Track log purchase volumes and log and transfer costs through the log accounting software
• Assist with month-end closing duties
• Reconcile issues relative to log purchase orders, inventories, transfers, and payments
• Establish and maintain good rapport with log buyers, sort yard personnel, and other team members.
• Set up log purchase orders in the log accounting software
• Process payments for logs, trucking, and other operations weekly and as needed
• Actively promote a positive image of the department and company to internal and external customers and suppliers
• Proactively communicate needs and objectives to others in the company via production meetings or other methods as deemed necessary, when and where appropriate
• Support the Log Procurement group as needed
• Support other areas in the Accounting Department as needed
• Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications

• An associate's degree in accounting or a related field is preferred
• Experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified is preferred.
• Knowledge or familiarity with general logging and transportation operations is a plus.
• Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office
• Detail oriented
• Basic understanding of the General Ledger Chart of Accounts
• Team player
• Ability to process computer data to format and generate reports.
• Basic data entry and word processing skills
• Ability to analyze and solve problems.
• Knowledge of mathematics
• Knowledge of general accounting principles
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent multi-tasking skills

Position Type/Travel/Schedule

The Log Accounting Clerk is a full-time position (40 Hours), and overtime work may be required as projects or job duties demand. The typical schedule is Monday–Friday.
