Accounting - Join a Market Leader

Construction Company seeks qualified Accounting Assistant to join its Oakland office. The preferred applicant must have accounting experience working for a Sub-contractor. Applicant must be able to competently support the monthly accounting cycle including but not limited to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Job Costing.

The qualified candidate needs accounting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience and has the knowledge and the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job.

Wages commensurate to experience

Responsibilities:

•  Filing, answering of phones, and administrative tasks as assigned

•  Reconcile vendor invoices / statements

•  Review and job cost invoices from vendors

•  Enter invoices into QuickBooks

•  Process time cards

•   Compile and transmit payroll to payroll service (such as hours worked from time sheets) and enters data or computes and posts wages, and reconciles errors, to maintain payroll records

•   Maintain a wide variety of payroll information (e.g. direct deposits, W-4s, leave balances, salary, levies, garnishments, voluntary and involuntary contributions, etc.) for ensuring the availability of documentation and compliance with established policies and regulatory guidelines

•  Ensures that all employees are paid on time and that their paychecks are accurate

•  Prepare certified payroll

•  Prepare billing

•  Bank reconciliations

•  Liability / Workers Comp knowledge a plus

•  Collect and review insurance certificates

•  Prepare CA Preliminary Lien Notices

•  Prepare and collect Conditional and Unconditional lien releases

•  Develop reports derived from general ledger data to meet the analytical needs of company management

•  Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

•  Must be self-motivated, organized and detail oriented

•  Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)

•  Ability to maintain strict confidentially

•  Outstanding problem-solving skills

•  Ability to multi-task and work under deadlines

•  Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

•  Bilingual (Spanish)
