Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including overseeing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, and preparing financial reports. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent communication skills, and experience managing a team.
Essential Functions
- Manage the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records, including maintaining accurate records of all financial transactions.
- Manage the monthly and annual closing process, including preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts.
- Work with finance and accounting management to ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies, and procedures.
- Implement and maintain accounting policies and develop, implement and maintain up-to-date procedures that meet the needs of the organization.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external auditors, banks, and other stakeholders.
- Manage and develop the local accounting team, including hiring, training, and performance management.
- Assists with processing payroll as needed.
- Works with finance and accounting management to complete annual financial audit.
- Assists with other duties and projects as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- CPA or Charter Accountant certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Experience with NetSuite.
- Proficient in advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve accounting issues.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with ability to deal with multiple customers, vendors, and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Supervisory experience acting as a team lead or directly managing an accounting team.
- Experience processing payroll for hourly and salaried employees in accordance with provincial, state, and federal requirements.
