Accounting Manager

Bring your accounting expertise to an established spa and salon business. milk + honey is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead a small team and manage day-to-day accounting.

What You’ll Do

Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting

• Manage the month-end close process, including journal entries, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and consolidated financial reporting.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Maintain accounting procedures, internal controls, and documentation to support accuracy and consistency.
• Prepare financial schedules, reconciliations, and documentation for annual audits or financial reviews.
• Lead the offshore accounting team, setting priorities, reviewing work for accuracy and timeliness, and coordinating daily accounting activities across locations.

Revenue, Receivables & Payables

• Manage accounts receivable processes, including aging reports, reconciliations, collections, and reporting.
• Oversee accounts payable, cash reconciliation, and accurate recording of financial transactions.
• Manage accounting for gift cards, memberships, and other deferred revenue, ensuring accurate liability tracking and revenue recognition.

Payroll, Tax & Compliance

• Provide guidance and accounting support to the Payroll Specialist, assisting with reconciliations, discrepancies, and process improvements as needed.
• Review employee commission calculations and resolve discrepancies as needed.
• Prepare and file sales tax returns across applicable states, including Texas, California, and Illinois.
• Coordinate with external tax professionals by providing financial records and supporting documentation for income tax preparation.

Inventory & Fixed Assets

• Oversee inventory accounting, including reconciliation, valuation, and shrink reporting.
• Maintain accurate fixed asset records, including equipment purchases, capital improvements, and location build-outs.
• Partner with operational teams to ensure accurate inventory and asset reporting.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 1–2 years leading a team.
• Experience with month-end close, GAAP, multi-entity accounting, and consolidated reporting.
• Strong knowledge of AP, AR, payroll accounting, and internal controls.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software.
• Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Preferred

• CPA designation or progress toward certification.
• Experience with deferred revenue accounting.
• Experience preparing multi-state sales tax returns.
• Accounting experience in a multi-location business.
• Familiarity with Zenoti or Domo.
