Accounting Manager - Cambridge, MA - BioTech
Our team is working with a growing BioTech company to hire an Accounting Manager to their growing team. Reporting to the VP of Finance the Senior Manager will be a key member of the growing finance team and will be responsible for supporting and assisting in all aspects of financial planning, accounting, and reporting.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
Ensure financial statements are prepared in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and in line with public company standards.
Help with the periodic forecasting and annual budgeting process
Monitor budget performance and provide recommendations for cost optimization
Prepare monthly budget vs actual reports to share with the department heads to understand any variances and change in spending patterns
Identify, recommend, and implement system and process improvements
Assist with preparation of reporting packages
Manage and assist with technical accounting matters (ASC 842, M&A, and other new accounting guidance as applicable)
Assist with the management of the equity-based systems from granting of new awards, coordinating information flow with human resources/payroll, shared-based compensation calculations and financial reporting
Assist with annual audit
Coordinate with tax preparers with the preparation and filing of annual federal and state returns
Assist with the annual 409a valuation
Review, recommend and support implementation of process improvement initiatives that enhance the efficiency and quality of the financial planning and financial accounting reporting workstreams
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of experience in public accounting and/or biotech preferred
CPA required
Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley (“SOX”) documentation and requirements
Basic knowledge of accounting principles (“GAAP”)
Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)
High proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word)
