Under the direction of the Corporate Controller, the Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the general accounting function for the Corporate Accounting Group. Key duties will include, but are not limited to the following: Manage a team of accountants and supervise the daily operations of the corporate accounting team. Monitor and analyze accounting data to ensure accurate and complete financial information. Maintain the consolidated and individual company financial reporting structure. Work with subsidiary controllers to ensure that policies and procedures are applied and accounts are used consistently across companies. Oversee intercompany transactions and balancing. Research and respond to accounting inquiries from various personnel and communicate findings in a clear and concise manner. Handle day to day problem solving and trouble shooting. Develop an in-depth working knowledge of all operational and accounting computer software/equipment systems that impact the accounting and financial reporting processes. Ensure that all deadlines are met in accordance with department closing dates. Create and/or manage journal entries to record expenses, tax provisions and miscellaneous journals. Manage, prepare or review various monthly account reconciliations which may include receivables, payables, accrued expenses, and other accounts. This responsibility includes any daily or weekly processes that lead to the overall reconciliation of the monthly activity. Coordinate with external auditors and company personnel to ensure efficiency in the interim and annual phases of the audit and that all deliverables are completed as assigned. Work frequently with external banking personnel to open, close or revise bank accounts and resolve various banking issues as needed. Other special projects, reports, tasks, and financial assessments as assigned by the Corporate Controller or Senior Management. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficiency with MS Excel/Power BI, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook required, experience with ERP or Reporting Systems a plus Expertise and experience in improving processes and utilizing technology to improve efficiencies Analytical abilities to assess reasonableness of information collected/provided; manage large datasets; identify trends, provide comments and recommendations Must have the ability to perform root cause analysis of problem areas and recommend alternative solutions. Clearly express results to management through schedules, tables, charts and commentary Ability to manage under tight deadlines and handle multiple complex tasks in a fast-paced, changing environment Self-directed individual who works well with teams Must promote cross-training within the department and be willing to help coworkers during absences and high-volume events Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelors degree in Accounting; CPA or path to becoming a CPA preferred 7+ years of experience in accounting or finance 3+ years of experience managing accounting function preferred Corporate accounting experience preferred but not required Energy and wholesale/distribution industry experience preferred but not required Position requires significant interaction with cross-corporate departments and all levels of personnel within the company. Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem solving ability, and developed interpersonal skills are required. The ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment is necessary. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and use of pivot tables) is required, and the candidate should be comfortable working with multiple PC software platforms and large automated accounting systems.
