Job Description - Accounting Specialist

Position Summary


We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Travel Accounting Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for accurately posting commission payments from various sources into SION, conducting commission research on behalf of travel agents, and providing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with large data files, proficient in office productivity tools, and eager to learn new systems and processes in a dynamic environment.



Key Responsibilities



  • Post and reconcile commission payments from multiple vendors and sources into Sion, payment reporting system, and QuickBooks accurately and timely

  • Research and resolve commission discrepancies for travel agents

  • Communicate professionally with vendors, travel agents, and internal teams via email and phone

  • Maintain accurate accounting records and documentation

  • Analyze and manage large data files with strong attention to detail

  • Support commission payment period ending processes related to commission accounting

  • Identify process improvements and assist in implementing new procedures

  • Adapt to new systems, tools, and workflows as needed



Qualifications



  • 2+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or commission processing experience (travel industry experience preferred but not required)

  • Experience posting and reconciling commission payments

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook and Excel required)

  • Comfortable working with large datasets and spreadsheets

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Customer service-oriented mindset

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment

  • Open to learning new systems and evolving processes



Preferred Skills



  • Experience with Sion, QuickBooks, or similar accounting systems

  • Experience in the travel industry

  • Outlook and Excel skills



Work Environment


This is a hybrid position, requiring in-office days with the ability to work from home Tuesdays and Thursdays upon completion of training. Candidates should be comfortable managing priorities independently while maintaining communication with the team.
