Accounting Specialist

Summary:

Our partner in the Construction industry is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join their team on a direct hire basis! Based onsite in Madison, the Accounting Specialist will handle billing including T&M and GMP, job costing, AR/AP, and payroll. Hours are full-time Monday-Friday between 8:00 am-5:00 pm and pay is based on experience. Benefits package available.

Responsibilities:
Prepare billings for fixed price contracts and bill retentions under project manager direction.
Handle Time and Material (T&M) billings, ensuring all contract costs are accounted for correctly.
Process monthly internal billings and maintain updated internal subcontracts.
Ensure billings meet customer-specific requirements and include necessary documentation.
Set up contract and service jobs accurately in the ERP system, ensuring tax compliance.
Manage inventory and company-owned equipment costs within transactions.
Facilitate Change Orders and assist Project Managers with job cost reviews.
Coordinate final job closures and maintain customer accounts.
Manage vendor transactions, including invoice processing and reconciliation.
Support employee setup, maintenance, and ensure payroll accuracy.
Assist the department with miscellaneous tasks as needed.
Qualifications:

Associate Degree in Accounting or equivalent education/experience.
2+ years of professional experience, ideally in the construction industry
Knowledge of sales and use tax.
Strong attention to detail and effective prioritization skills.
Professional proficiency in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, integrity, and adept at multitasking in a dynamic environment.
